Santa brought the camera that I’ve been wanting for two years, the one which promises to take my photography to an entirely new level. Sadly (for you) I really don’t know what I’m doing and after, literally, hundreds of photos, this is the best I can come up with this week.

So, thank you for putting up with my ineptness. And please feel free to offer tips, recommend wonderful DSLR books, tutorials, etc.

And in other (more beautiful) news, two weeks ago…

…Tracey from A Beadiful Mess recieved the most clicks with this gorgeous photo.
Beautiful work, Tracey!

  1. Lori, those are wonderful. I like the color in the pumpkin. I bet that in a few weeks, you'll be totally used to the new camera. 🙂 As for help, my husband gave me a class at betterphoto.com for Christmas a few years ago and I liked it.

  2. oh my goodness! Imagine my surprise to see my photo as the most clicked! When I first saw it, I was thinking "Wow, that photo looks just like one I took" Lol. Dont be hard on yourself, it will take time to learn how to use your new camera. You will get there. I remember how overwhelmed I was at first when I got my 60D. It was exciting and scary all at the same time. Have fun with it and practice practice practice! Hugs.

  3. I know you will master it…but I am sure it will take some time…it is my hope I can do the same this year too…you are way ahead of my skills! Here's to 2012.Jenni

  4. The photos are better than you think they are! I was disappointed in my pictures when I first got my camera. They just didn't turn out like I thought they would or should. It does take time and lots of practice.

  5. Lots of flowers this morning! You crack me up – I actually love that first photo a lot. I'm going to hope for a new camera in the new year and take a course, because I've been using my great point and shoot for a long time. Happy New Year Lori!

  6. Lori the pics you posted look awesome! I love the texture of that first picture. It just takes practice, practice and more practice but just think of the photos you will be sharing with us. I can't wait to see where your photography goes. Have a wonderful New Year!!!!

  7. How exciting to get a DSLR. You will have some lovely shots.Don't stress Lori! I bought my first DSLR in late August and I still use auto mode. I have only used manual to photograph the moon (with the help of a friend) and on Christmas day when I received a 50mm portrait lens… I managed to get some great shots but I had to play around with the settings a lot and I don't really have much understanding of what I am doing.Happy New Year!!

  8. Congratulations on the new camera Lori!!It definitely takes time to get to "know" it.I've had my current camera for more than 4 years, and I am still learning how to use it.I think your photographs here are great!Love the pumpkin!
